Live Oak, Texas - Trinity's cross country had a partial squads compete at the UIW Invitational at Live Oak City Park, and the women placed sixth and the Tiger men were eighth.
Trinity's women's squad scored 154 points in the 6k race during a murky morning. The Tigers defeated Texas Lutheran University, Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University, the University of St. Thomas (TX), and Sul Ross State University (TX). Abilene Christian (TX) University won the women's top slot with 36 points, while the host University of the Incarnate Word (TX) was runner-up with 38.
Laurel Daughtrey turned in an excellent 16th-place performance, crossing the finish line in 25:11. Ardi Saunders placed 23rd, clocking in at 25:43. Theresa Feller came in at #36, Natasha Wright was 37th, while Amanda Gerlach placed 42nd in the field.
Trinity's men scored 215 points in the 8k event and beat Texas Lutheran University, McMurry (TX) University, and Schreiner (TX) University. UIW captured the men's title with 18 points.
Jack Powers posted a time of 28:53 and finished in 29th place. Jackson Meyer and Matthew Fraijo recorded 39th and 40th-place finishes. Andy Cottrell was 51st, Aaron Garcia placed 56th, and Nathan Brown finished the race at #60.
A number of Trinity's top runners rested today and will compete October 13 at the Inter-Regional Border Battle in Logan Township, New Jersey.
