San Antonio - In the early hours of Friday morning, the Trinity men's and women's cross country squads swept the team and individual titles at their Alamo City Opener at Olmos Basin Park.
Trinity's women won the 5k event, outscoring Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University 19 to 41. The Tigers begin the 2018 campaign ranked 37th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Preseason Poll.
The Tiger men finished on top of the 5k race, beating Our Lady of the Lake 25 to 33.
Six Trinity women's runners finished in the top 10, paced by All-American Molly McCullough, who posted a time of 18:32.8. Jordan Juran was runner-up to her teammate, and Brianna Ratliff was fourth. Placing seventh through ninth were Allison Hill, Ardi Saunders, and Samantha Simank.
Harry Bellow ran the 5k for the first time in his collegiate career, and emerged as the champion with a time of 16:02.0. Elliot Blake was a third-place finisher for the Tigers. Claiming positions seventh through 10th were Brian Wongchotigul, Keeton Holt, Chad Conway, and Jack Powers.
Trinity's teams will compete September 8 at the Our Lady of the Lake University Collegiate Invitational. The event will be held at Mission del Lago Golf Course in San Antonio.
