Trinity Men and Women Sweep Cross Country Championships

Seguin, Texas - Trinity swept the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Trinity's second win in three years on the men's side marks the fourth overall conference title for the Tiger men.

The Tiger women won for the first time since the team won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013.

Trinity's 21 points in the women's race is the fifth-lowest score in conference history, while the men's score of 24 points is the sixth-best in SCAC history.

Laura Taylor and Molly McCullough went 1-2 in the women's race for the Tigers, who had eight runners finish in the top 14 to earn All-SCAC honors.

Taylor is the first Trinity runner to win SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year since Maddie Murphy in 2013.

Trinity's men had seven runners finish in the top 10 individually, led by Michael Erickson in second place. Erickson was just 1.24 seconds behind the winner from Colorado College.

First-year Harry Bellow finished sixth to earn SCAC Men's Newcomer of the Year accolades, while fellow first-year Jordan Juran was ninth on the women's side to nab the SCAC Women's Newcomer of the Year award.

In addition to Erickson and Bellow, Trinity men's All-SCAC honorees were Elliott Blake (4th), Austin Brown (5th), Jacob Hammond (7th), Brian Wongchotigul (8th), and Colton Hawkins (10th).

Taylor, McCullough, and Juran were joined on the All-SCAC women's team by Haley McFadden (4th), Emma MacEachern (5th), Allison Hill (11th), Melissa Whitman (12th), and Mabel Fowler (14th).

Both Trinity teams will be back in action at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships in Newport News, Virginia, on Saturday, November 11.
