Molly McCullough Highlights Cross Country Teams at NCAA Regionals

Mount Berry, Georgia - The Trinity women's cross country team finished fifth, and the men's squad came in at eighth at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Cross Country Regional on Saturday.

Molly McCullough was runner-up in the women's 6k race, earning a spot in the NCAA Championships next week.

Joining McCullough on the All-Region Team were Lexi Phelps, Laura Taylor, and Melissa Whitman, while Allison Hill and Emma MacEachern finished just outside of the top 35, and narrowly missed All-Region accolades.

Two Tiger men garnered All-Region recognition in the 8k event, led by Austin Brown's 23rd-place finish, while Brian Wongchotigul placed 35th. Just out of the loop was Michael Erickson, who came in at 37th.

Trinity's women's fifth place finish - out of 27 teams - was just one point behind fourth-place finisher Washington & Lee (VA) University. Emory (GA) University won the team title.

The Tiger men placed eighth of 29 teams. Christopher Newport (VA) University emerged as team champion.

McCullough jumped from 26th place in last year's regional meet to her second-place finish this season.

Trinity's women have now placed a team or individual at the NCAA Championships event for nine of the past 10 seasons.

Molly McCullough will represent Trinity at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, to be held November 19 at Louisville, Kentucky.
