San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team remained ranked in the top-10 by the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top-25 Poll.
Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers are ranked as the #9 team in the nation. Trinity is on a 10-match win streak and has chalked up an overall 24-4 record. The Tigers are in second place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) standings with a 12-1 mark.
Last weekend, Trinity hosted the SCAC Divisional and went 4-0 in the process. The Tigers defeated Johnson & Wales (CO) University, Austin (TX) College, the University of St Thomas (TX), and Texas Lutheran University. Trinity is unbeaten in front of the home fans with a 13-0 record.
Junior outside hitter Avery Tuggle leads the team in kills with 313 (3.10/set) in her column and is third in digs with 310 (3.07/set). Junior outside hitter Annie Rose Leggett is the leader in digs with 375 (3.71/set), while junior defensive specialist Sami Lin is second with 333 (4.06/set).
Sophomore setter Lexie Acevedo is #1 in assists with 481 (5.47/set), and senior setter Katrina Lieberman is in second place with 397 (5.75/set). Sophomore middle blockers Emily Ellis and Emma Funk lead in hitting percentage with respective .400 and .391 marks. Ellis also is the leader in blocks at 95 (1.01/set).
The Tigers take on Schreiner (TX) University in a conference match tonight (Tuesday) in Kerrville, Texas. Trinity then travels to Sherman, Texas, for the weekend SCAC Divisional at Austin College. Saturday's schedule has the Tigers playing sixth-ranked Colorado College and Centenary (LA) College. Trinity meets the University of Dallas (TX) and Southwestern (TX) University on Sunday.
