Tiger Volleyball Jumps to Eighth in Latest AVCA Poll

San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team climbed two positions and is now ranked eighth nationally, according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top-25 Poll.

Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers went undefeated last weekend at their Trinity Fall Classic. The Tigers garnered wins over the University of California-Santa Cruz, 11th-ranked Ohio Northern University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX), and Rowan (NJ) University to improve their win streak to six matches and move to 20-4 this season.

Sophomore middle blocker Emily Ellis was named the Trinity Fall Classic Most Valuable Player, and also the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Ellis leads the Tigers with a .397 hitting percentage and has a team-best 86 blocks on the year, as well as standing thrd on the team with 197 kills.

Fellow sophomore middle blocker Emma Funk is just behind her teammate with a .383 hitting percentage this season.

Junior outside hitters Avery Tuggle and Annie Rose Leggett lead in kills. Tuggle has 275 kills in her column, while Leggett has 210. Leggett is #1 in Trinity digs with 328, while junior libero Sami Lin has 285. 

Sophomore setter Lexie Acevedo leads in total assists with 403 this season. Senior setter Katrina Lieberman has posted 387 assists in the matchups.

The Tigers will host the SCAC Divisional Tournament this weekend, starting with Johnson & Wales (CO) University and Austin (TX) College on Friday. The University of St. Thomas (TX) and Texas Lutheran University are the on the schedule for Saturday.
