Trinity Volleyball Rises to Seventh in National Poll

San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team climbed 10 positions and is now the seventh-ranked team in the NCAA Division III, according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll.

Led by 35th-year Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the previously 17th-ranked Tigers started the campaign with an impressive 4-0 record after their Trinity National Invitational last weekend. Trinity defeated #15 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX), #25 College of Saint Benedict (MN), Neumann (PA) University, and the University of Minnesota-Morris.

Junior outside hitter Avery Tuggle was selected as the Tournament Most Valuable Player, while junior libero Sami Lin and sophomore setter Lexie Acevedo joined Tuggle on the All-Tournament Team.

Trinity was last ranked seventh in the second AVCA regular-season poll of the 2018 season, and the Tigers rose to sixth int the nation the following week.

The Tigers travel to Richardson, Texas, this weekend for the UT-Dallas Invitational. The Tigers will first take on host University of Texas-Dallas, which received votes in the latest AVCA Poll. A pairing with 23rd-ranked Pacific Lutheran (WA) University will wrap up the first day of action, and on Saturday, Trinity will tak on Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges and Aurora (IL) University, which received votes in the poll.
