San Antonio - Trinity senior defensive specialist Sarah Mullens has been elected to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.
Last week, the second-seeded Tigers placed third at the SCAC Championship held at the University of Dallas (TX) in Irving, Texas. Third-seeded Southwestern (TX) University upset Trinity 3-2 in the semifinals. But the Tigers bounced back to shut out #4 Dallas 3-0 in the third-place matchup.
Mullens recorded 32 digs in the two matches, including 19 against Southwestern. She also fired in three service aces in the tournament.
Trinity's all-time leader in career digs increased her total to 2,007. She is ranked third in career aces with 237 in her column.
Earlier, Mullens became a two-time All-SCAC honoree. She was elected to this season's All-SCAC Second Team, and was a First Team recipient in the 2017 campaign.
Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, 12th-ranked Trinity (25-6) will compete in its 24th NCAA Division III Championship starting Friday in Chicago, Illinois. The Tigers take on Aurora (IL) University at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Chicago (IL). The winner advances to the Regional semifinals at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, with the Regional championship set for 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
