San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team rose one notch and is now ranked ninth by the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Poll.
Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers have earned a top-10 ranking in eight of the nine regular-season polls this year. Trinity has won five consecutive matches and stands at 24-5 overall with a 15-1 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Tigers are ranked seventh nationally in team assists with 1,401, eighth in hitting percentage (.257), and #10 in team kills, with 1,493. Junior setter Katrina Lieberman holds a #5 national ranking in total assists with 1,137 in her column.
Last week, senior defensive specialist Sarah Mullens became Trinity's all-time leader in career digs. Mullens has amassed 1,975 digs to date. She also has fired in 234 career service aces and stands in third place in Trinity's record books.
Trinity will compete over the weekend in the six-team SCAC Championship at the University of Dallas (TX) in Irving, Texas. The second-seeded Tigers have a first-round bye and will play in Saturday's semifinals at 2:30 p.m. against the winner the Southwestern (TX) University and Austin (TX) College match. The championship match is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with the winner guaranteed a berth in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
