San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team has been ranked 10th in the nation by the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Poll.
Led by Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers have received a top-10 ranking in seven of the eight regular-season polls this year. Trinity is also ranked third in the West Region.
The Tigers stand at 20-5 overall and are 12-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference competition. Last week, Trinity hosted a SCAC Divisional and went 2-1 at the event. The Tigers claimed 3-0 victories over Johnson & Wales (CO) University and the University of Dallas (TX) and came up just short 3-2 to fourth-ranked Colorado College.
In national team stats, Trinity is ranked seventh in assists per set (12.74), and ninth in hitting percentage (.255) and kills per set (13.6). Individually, Katrina Lieberman holds a #13 ranking in assists per set (10.68) and is 16th in total assists at 961.
Sarah Mullens has chalked up 1,892 digs in her career, and is 65 away from breaking the all-time Trinity record set my Meredith Erwin (2009-2012). Mullens also is in third place in Trinity's record books with 224 service aces.
The Tigers wrap up their regular-season home schedule Wednesday by hosting the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX) at 6:00 p.m. Mary Hardin-Baylor is ranked #21 nationally and second in the West Region.
