#6 Volleyball Sweeps Saturday Competition at IWU Tournament

Bloomington, Illinois - Trinity's sixth-ranked volleyball team finished off the Holiday Inn Express II Tournament with wins over Rose-Hulman (IN) Institute of Technology and Millikin (IL) University on Saturday afternoon.



The Tigers opened the day's action with a 3-0 sweep of Rose-Hulman, winning 25-22, 26-24, and 25-20. Trinity finished off the two-day event with a 3-1 victory over Millikin, winning the final three games 25-14, 25-23, and 25-17 after falling 21-25 in the opening set.

Emily Ellis wrapped up an outstanding individual weekend with a team-best 12 kills and four blocks to go with a .417 hitting percentage in the win over Millikin. She was the lone Tiger player named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Madeline McKay scored double-digit kills in both matches on Saturday, beginning with a team-high 13 kills and a .355 hitting percentage against Rose-Hulman, then had 10 more kills in the tournament finale.

Katrina Lieberman finished with 40 assists and 12 digs in the sweep of Rose-Hulman, marking her third 40-assist match of the weekend. She capped her tournament with 37 assists and six digs against Millikin.

Sarah Mullens led the Tigers in digs in both matches, finishing with 22 digs and a pair of aces to start the day, then had 14 more digs in her final action of the weekend. She has also moved into fourth on Trinity's all-time list for career digs, surpassing 1,700 in her career. Mullens also moved to fifth in career aces and became the seventh Tiger player to pass 200 in a career.

Emma Funk started the day wtih 11 kills and four blocks against Rose-Hulman, hitting a team-best .625 in the match. Jade Schoenberger added five kills on just 10 swings and recorded three blocks. Avery Tuggle finished off her weekend with a 12-dig performance against Millikin.



The Tigers will head to Irving, Texas, next weekend to continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Trinity takes on second-ranked Colorado College on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the University of Dallas (TX).
