#5 Trinity Volleyball Blanks Schreiner in SCAC Opener

Kerrville, Texas - The fifth-ranked Tiger volleyball team opened up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 road win at Schreiner (TX) University on Tuesday night.

Trinity won 14 straight points on its way to a lopsided 25-7 win in the opening set - a set in which the Tigers recorded a blistering .476 hitting percentage. The second set began with seven consecutive Trinity points and the visitors never looked back in a 25-12 victory.

The third set was more competitive as Trinity worked in all of its players and Schreiner fought to the very end. The Tigers pulled ahead 18-14 before the Mountaineers scored three straight to close to within a point, but Trinity responded with four straight points of its own to take back the momentum and sweep the match.

The Tigers remained undefeated at 5-0, while the Mountaineers dropped to 1-4.

All 17 Trinity players saw action in tonight's match, including the reigning SCAC Offensive Player of the Week in Katrina Lieberman. She finished with 21 assists and four digs and led the team to a .317 hitting percentage for the match.

Avery Tuggle hit over .300 while picking up seven kills and four digs, while Madeline McKay finished with six kills and a team-best three service aces.

Annie Rose Leggett was the team's leader with 10 digs, while Sarah Williammee had six kills, and Lexie Acevedo nabbed seven assists and five digs.

The Tigers return home for the Trinity Fall Classic Tournament this weekend, beginning with Friday matches against the University of La Verne (CA) and fourth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges.
