Georgetown, Texas - The Tiger volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches with Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories over the University of Dallas and Austin College on Saturday.
Trinity swept its opening weekend in SCAC play, also upsetting 16th-ranked Colorado College 3-2 in yesterday's action. The Tigers defeated Dallas 3-0 to start off Saturday, then finished their part in the tournament with a 3-1 win over Austin.
Against Austin, Trinity had four players post double-doubles in the victory. Setters Maryn Swierc and Jenny Epperson paced the Tiger attack on both offense and defense. Swierc led the team with 27 assists, followed closely by Epperson's 23 assists. Epperson also had 11 digs, while Swierc finished with 13.
Layne Hubbard and Maggie Emodi both earned double figures in kills and digs. Hubbard led the team with 18 digs to go with her 15 kills, while Emodi had 11 digs and a team-high 16 kills. Erin Cusenbary also finished with 11 kills for the Tigers.
Meredith Erwin and Mia Mineghino combined for 28 total digs, with Erwin grabbing 15 of those. Kelsey Daniel added eight digs and a team-best three service aces, while Erwin and Mineghino recorded two aces each.
Trinity will return home for three matches next week, facing off against three teams in non-tournament action. The Tigers will host Our Lady of the Lake University on Wednesday, followed by two matches against Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University on Thursday evening.
