San Antonio - Seven Trinity women's tennis members were designated as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes, and the Tiger squad was named an All-Academic Team.
Juniors Francesca Canjar, Ashley DeBauge, Mary Kaffen, Zoe Kaffen, and Hanna Rafferty, along with first-years Hailey Feuer and Abby Watson earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average.
Trinity was awarded ITA All-Academic Team accolades as well, which is a distinction granted to a team that has a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.
Mary Kaffen and Zoe Kaffen received Scholar-Athlete honors for the third year. The twins were also All-Americans, as they captured the ITA Division III Southwest Doubles Championship last fall. Each made the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Team. The Kaffens completed the season with a 10-9 doubles record and were ranked sixth in the ITA West Region. Individually, Zoe Kaffen was 15th regionally in singles with a 10-5 record, and Mary Kaffen posted an 8-2 mark for a #24 ranking.
DeBauge is a three-time Scholar-Athlete and held a #12 West Region singles ranking with a 10-6 record and earned a spot on the All-SCAC Team. Rafferty and Canjar qualified as Scholar-Athletes for the second time in their careers.
Feuer was elected the SCAC Newcomer of the Year, the first Trinity women's player to attain the distinction. She completed the season with a 9-4 singles record. Watson advanced to the ITA Southwest "B" Singles Championship and lost to teammate Paulina Garcia.
Led by fifth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the Tigers finished the season with a 13-7 record and a #18 national ranking by the ITA, along with a #4 rank in the West Region. Trinity won its eighth consecutive SCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
