San Antonio – Trinity's 19th-ranked women's tennis team lost an 8-1 decision to Division II St. Mary's (TX) University on Tuesday.
Trinity falls to 9-6 this season with the loss, though the Tigers are 9-1 against Division III opponents.
Zoe and Mary Kaffen were edged 8-7 (7-4) in line one doubles to give St. Mary's a 3-0 advantage heading into singles.
Caroline Kutach got Trinity's only point of the match at line one as her opponent retired, though Kutach was leading 3-2 at the time.
Kutach has won nine of her last 10 matches and is 9-3 overall this season, while DeBauge fell to 10-4 overall with just her second loss in the last 10 outings.
The Tigers will face off against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schools Schreiner (TX) University and Texas Lutheran University on Saturday, April 13, in the final regular season home contests of the year for Trinity.
