#19 Women's Tennis Defeats UT-Dallas and Hardin-Simmons

Abilene, Texas - The 19th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team defeated the University of Texas-Dallas and Hardin-Simmons (TX) University Saturday in dual matches.



Trinity, ranked third in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Region, first beat 12th-ranked UT-Dallas 7-2, and then defeated Hardin-Simmons 9-0.

The Tigers took two of three doubles against UT-Dallas. Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores won the second line, while Andrea De Leon and and Francesca Canjar took the third.

Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen lost the top line of doubles.

Trinity went on to win five of six singles matches.

Ashley DeBauge won the second line, Zoe Kaffen took the third, De Leon was the winner on line four, while Paulina Garcia and Jillian Greenberg won numbers five and six singles.

Kutach lost a three-set top-line battle as the match ended.

The Tigers swept all three doubles against Hardin-Simmons. The only change in the doubles lineup was DeBauge played the second line with Flores.

Trinity won the six singles matches, with some changes in the lineup. Mary Kaffen played the third line, Garcia moved up to the fourth match, and Canjar played the fifth.



The Tigers improved their overall record to 9-5, and to 9-1 against NCAA Division III opponents.

UT-Dallas now stands at 5-1, while Hardin-Simmons is 4-11.

Ashley DeBauge won her sixth consecutive singles match and has a 10-3 record, while Mary Kaffen is sporting a 7-1 singles mark.

Paulina Garcia improved to 3-1 in singles play this season, while Jillian Greenberg played in her first two matches in the starting lineup as a Tiger.



Trinity wraps up its regular-season home schedule Saturday, April 13, with two matches. First up is Schreiner (TX) University at 8:00 a.m., followed by Texas Lutheran University at 11:30 a.m.
