#19 Trinity Blanks #21 Southwestern on Friday

San Antonio - The 19th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team posted a 9-0 home victory over #21 Southwestern (TX) University on Friday.


The Tigers won the top two doubles lines by scores of 8-4, led by Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen at #1 doubles, and Andrea De Leon and Megan Flores at line two.

Paulina Garcia and Hanna Rafferty won the third line by default, and Trinity also won lines five and six in singles by default to clinch the match.

The Tigers went on to win numbers two and four singles in straight sets, with Zoe Kaffen and Hailey Feuer doing the honors.

De Leon lost the first set of #3 singles 1-6, but bounced back to take the match 6-4, 10-7.

Ashley DeBauge rallied to win the second set of line one singles, then won after her opponent retired to finish off the shutout.



Trinity got a shutout for the second straight match and improved to 7-4 on the season, including a 7-1 record against NCAA Division III opponents.

Southwestern dropped to 12-2 after the loss.

Hailey Feuer upped her singles record to 8-2, including a 5-1 mark at #4 singles.

Ashley DeBauge won her fourth consecutive singles contest and is 8-3 on the season.

Zoey Kaffen also secured her fourth straight win and is 6-3 in singles play this year.



The Tigers host National Junior College Athletic Association powerhouse Tyler Junior (TX) College at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
