#21 Trinity Women’s Tennis Shuts Out East Texas Baptist

San Antonio - The 21st-ranked Trinity women's tennis team scored a 9-0 home shutout of East Texas Baptist University Friday afternoon.



 In the sweep of doubles, Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen played the top line, Caroline Kutach and Megan Flores were the tandem at #2, while Andrea De Leon and Hailey Feuer were paired on the third.

The top-three singles matches were captured in straight sets. Kutach represented the Tigers on the top line, Ashley DeBauge played #2 singles, and Zoe Kaffen got the decision in the third matchup. De Leon also won in two sets at #5 singles.

Feuer lost the first set of her #4 singles match 3-6, but rallied to take the second and third sets 6-0 and 10-4. Mary Kaffen came up short 1-6 in the opener of #6 singles and battled back to win 6-1 and 10-1.



Trinity upped its overall record to 3-2 and stands at 3-0 against NCAA Division III opponents. East Texas Baptist dropped to 3-2 after the loss.

Mary Kaffen is undefeated in singles at 3-0, and Feuer improved her season mark to 4-1. Kutach and DeBauge are each sporting 3-2 records in singles competition, as does the doubles team of Kutach and Megan Flores.



The Tigers will host 13th-ranked Washington University-St. Louis (MO) at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Trinity's team then heads to nearby University of the Incarnate Word (TX) for a 2:00 p.m. match with the Division I Cardinals.
