Women’s Tennis Team Earns ITA Academic Honors

San Antonio - The Trinity women's tennis team and seven players have earned academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Tiger squad received the ITA Academic Team Award for the 2017-18 season. Teams with a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher qualify for the accolade.

Individuals are eligible to become ITA Scholar-Athletes who maintain at least a 3.50 GPA. Recent graduate Marie Lutz garnered the honor for the third consecutive year. Ashley DeBauge, Mary Kaffen, and Zoe Kaffen are now two-time ITA Scholar-Athletes. Francesca Canjar, Meredith Jackson, and Hannah Rafferty picked up the distinction for the first time.

Led by fourth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush, the 21st-ranked Tigers completed the campaign with a 13-11 record. Trinity won its seventh consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships for the seventh year in a row.
