San Antonio - Trinity junior Caroline Kutach has been tabbed as a women's singles Division III All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Kutach earned the accolade by tying for 20th in the final ITA national singles rankings. She completed the dual-match season with a 14-6 record at the #1 singles position and was ranked third in the West Region. Kutach received a bid to the NCAA Division III Singles Championship, where she fell to the seventh-seeded player in the opening round.
Earlier, Kutach was elected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Year. Kutach helped spark the Tigers to their seventh consecutive conference title, while earning All-SCAC honors for the third straight time.
Trinity women's Head Coach Gretchen Rush and Assistant Coach Jacob Carrillo also received high honors from the ITA. Coach Rush was selected as the 2018 Wilson ITA Division III West Region Women's Coach of the Year. Coach Carrillo was tabbed as the tasc Performance ITA Division III West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
The Tigers earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship and advanced to the second round of the team tournament. Trinity completed the campaign with a 13-11 overall record and a 13-7 mark against Division III opponents. The ITA ranked the Tigers 21st in the final national poll and third in the West Region.
