San Antonio - Trinity junior Caroline Kutach was voted the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, headlining a group of five Tiger players who were selected for the All-SCAC Women's Tennis Team.
Kutach earned All-SCAC accolades for the third consecutive year. She is ranked fourth in the West Region in singles and has amassed a 14-6 record at the #1 position.
Junior Ashley DeBauge holds a #14 singles ranking in the Region. DeBauge stands at 14-8 in singles and has captured her last seven matches.
Sophomore Zoe Kaffen earned All-SCAC honors for the second year in a row. Kaffen has chalked up a 12-7 singles record and is on a 10-match win streak. Her twin sister, Mary Kaffen, was tabbed for the All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team. The Tiger tandem is ranked fifth in Regional doubles.
Junior Andrea De Leon earned All-SCAC honors for the third straight time. The previous two years De Leon was on the Honorable Mention Team.
Fourth-year Head Coach Gretchen Rush guided the Tigers to a seventh consecutive conference title. Trinity defeated Southwestern (TX) University 5-0in the SCAC Championships to earn its 22nd overall championship.
Trinity is sporting a 13-10 overall record and is 13-6 against Division III opponents. The Tigers are ranked 20th in the NCAA Division III and third in the West Region.
The SCAC Championship came with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, the field of which will be announced May 7. The opening three rounds are slated for May 11-13 at sites to be determined. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship are scheduled for May 21-23 at Claremont, California. The singles and doubles championships will follow, from May 24-26 at Claremont.
