Georgetown, TX - The 19th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-3 victory Southwestern (TX) University.
The Tigers got off to a strong start and swept doubles. Cheyenne Duncan and Caroline Kutach got things started with an 8-4 win at line three, and Andrea De Leon and Marie Lutz followed suit with a quick 8-3 victory at line two. Mary Kaffen and Zoe Kaffen earned the win at the top spot with an 8-2 victory over the Pirates.
In singles, Ashley DeBauge was able to earn a quick two set victory at line two, but Southwestern was not going to go down easily. The Pirates took the next point at line one, and De Leon lost a tough three setter at line three to make it a 4-2 match.
Z. Kaffen was able to pull out a 6-4, 6-7 (5), 7-5 victory at line four to clinch the match for the Tigers. M. Kaffen was able to pick up Trinity's sixth and final point at line five with a strong two-set win.
Trinity will head to Colorado Springs to compete in the SCAC Championships on April 20-22.
