San Antonio - The 18th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team lost a narrow 5-4 decision to seventh-ranked Bowdoin (ME) College in final match of Spring Break road trip.
After dropping the first doubles match at line one, Andrea De Leon and Francesca Canjar picked up an 8-3 win at line three to tie up the match, but the Tigers came up short at line two to go down 2-1 going into singles.
The Polar Bears continued the momentum into singles play and picked up the first match at line five. De Leon then earned a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win at line three to make it a 3-2 match. Bowdoin took the next two points at lines one and six, though, clinching the team victory.
Despite the clincher, Trinity fought to the end and took the final two points of the match. Ashley Bebauge took a 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) win at line two, and Zoe Kaffen wrapped up the match with her 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win at line four.
Trinity will return home Friday, March 23 for a doubleheader against California Institutue of Technology and Austin (TX) College, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
