San Antonio - Trinity junior Caroline Kutach has received the honor of being named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Kutach won both of her #1 singles matches last week, as the 16th-ranked Tigers went 1-1. Trinity took out 35th-ranked University of Redlands (CA) 8-1 in a home match and then lost by the same score to #3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges in Austin, Texas. She defeated her Redlands opponent in straight sets and won a third-set tiebreaker to claim the Tigers' only point against C-M-S.
This season, Kutach stands at 7-2 in #1 singles matches. Her only losses came against NCAA Division II member St. Mary's (TX) University and the DI U.S. Air Force Academy (CO).
Trinity (2-7) will embark on a week-long trip to California, taking on DIII opponents. The five-match tour, to be held March 12-16, opens with a tilt against #31 Linfield (OR) College in San Juan Capistrano, California.
