Cleveland, Ohio – Trinity's 16th-ranked women's tennis team finished off a weekend road trip with a 7-2 loss to the University of Chicago (IL) on Sunday.

Chicago opened up with a 3-0 advantage after doubles, and the Tigers weren't able to bounce back from that deficit in singles action.

Caroline Kutach and Andrea De Leon lost a narrow 9-7 match at the third position to close doubles, just missing a chance to steal the final point before heading into singles.

The Maroons continued their doubles momentum by scoring the first two singles contests to clinch the team match. Despite the clinch, Trinity continued to fight through singles and came away with wins in two of the final three matches on the court.

Caroline Kutach took a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 win at line one to get Trinity on the board, then Francesca Canjar earned a straight-set win at line six right after.

After dropping the first set of her match 6-0, Ashley DeBauge rallied to take a 7-5 win in the second, then lost a tight 10-8 tiebreaker in the third.

Trinity falls to 1-4 on the season, though two of those losses came against Division II opponents. Chicago remained unbeaten at 6-0 with today's win.

The Tigers return home on Friday to face off against Division II St. Edward's (TX) University at 4:00 p.m.
