Clevand, Ohio - The sixteenth-ranked Trinity women's tennis earned their first dual match win of the spring season with a 6-3 victory over Denison (OH) University.
The Tigers had a rough start to the match, as they found themselves down 2-1 after doubles. Trinity avoided the sweep with Caroline Kutach and Andrea De Leon pairing up at line three to earn an 8-3 win.
Singles play was a completely different story, as Trinity battled back to overcome the early deficit. Mary Kaffen made quick work of her opponent at line four and earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory to tie things up at 2-all.
Denison was able to grab the next singles point, but the Tigers were able to pick up the next three matches to clinch the win.
Caroline Kutach was able to clinch the match for the Tigers with her match in the #1 slot. After taking the first set 6-2, Kutach dropped the second 3-6, but was able to rally back and win the match with a 6-4 victory in the final set.
Zoe Kaffen was the last Tiger on the court and was able to come out victorious in her tough matchup at line three. Despite dropping her first set 6-4, she was able to come back and win the next two 6-2 and 7-5.
The Tigers will wrap up their road trip tomorrow with a matchup against the University of Chicago (IL) at 10:00 a.m. EST.
