Trinity Women's Tennis Players Advance at ITA Regionals

Tyler, Texas - Six Trinity singles players and two doubles teams advanced at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Championships on Friday.



Top-seeded Caroline Kutach advanced to Saturday's third round of "A" Singles, and will take on Elisa Kendall of East Texas Baptist University.

Unseeded Zoe Kaffen defeated #5 Taite Drews-Jones of Southwestern (TX) University in straight sets, and meets Tiger teammate Ashley DeBauge.

Andrea De Leon plays Diana Carvajalino of Austin (TX) College, while Paulina Garcia is paired against #3 Kate Daugherty of Southwestern.

Seventh-seeded Marie Lutz has a match with Melody Duong of Austin (TX) College.

Top seeds Lutz and De Leon won two doubles matches Friday, and moved on to Saturday's quarterfinals against against the sixth-seeded Southwestern team of Anna Schneemann and Maranda Kahl.

Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen, seeded third, won their opening matches by scores of 8-0. The two sisters meet Southwestern's Drews-Jones and Mariana Quetzeri in the quarterfinals.



The tournament continues Saturday with the third round and quarterfinals of "A" Singles, and the quarterfinals and semifinals of "A" Doubles. There is also play in "B" and "C" Singles, and consolation rounds.

The Singles semifinals and finals, along with the Doubles championships, are set for Sunday.
