Chattanooga, Tennessee - Trinity's Liza Southwick was eliminated in the second round of singles at the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on Thursday.
Southwick won a hard-fought first-round battle, defeating Camille Smukler of Amherst (MA) College 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). The Tiger senior warded off match point in the third-set tiebreaker.
Second-seeded Rebecca Ho of Washington University in St. Louis (MO) prevailed over Southwick 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 16.
Southwick previously competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship with Marie Lutz the past two years, but this was her first season to be selected for the singles tournament.
