Trinity Women's Tennis Players Advance at ITA Regional

Abilene, Texas - Six Tiger women's singles players, and three doubles teams advanced in the "A Draws" Friday on the opening day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Championships.



Top-seeded Liza Southwick advanced to Saturday's third round of singles. Southwick meets #16 Lauren Kuhn of the University of Texas-Tyler in the round of 16.

Fourth seed Caroline Kutach takes on teammate Ashleigh DeBauge, seeded 13th, in the third round.

Mary Kaffen, the #14 seed, is paired against third-seeded Kathy Joseph of the University of Texas-Dallas.

Zoe Kaffen's opponent will be UT-Dallas' Samuruta Iyengar.

Second-seeded Marie Lutz has a match with #15 Sophie Farmer of UT-Dallas.

Defending doubles champions Lutz and Southwick advanced to the tournament quarterfinals. The All-American duo plays Lauren Stanley and Camila Anguiano of Schreiner University.

The Kaffen twin sisters, seeded fourth, meet the #8 team of Julie Swets and Megan Hawkins of Southwestern University.

Kutach and Blaire Porter are matched with the second-seeded duo of Joseph and Melanie Marlin of UT-Dallas.

Porter and Anne Wellford advanced to the "B" Singles quarterfinals.



Bracket play continues Saturday, along with consolation rounds. The finals are set for Sunday.
