Trinity Women's Soccer Welcomes 15 New Recruits for 2019

Trinity Women's Soccer Welcomes 15 New Recruits for 2019

San Antonio - Trinity Head Coach Dylan Harrison has announced fifteen new players that will join the Tiger women's soccer team for the 2019-20 school year.

The 2018 season ended with Trinity sporting a 17-2-1 overall record. The Tigers won their SCAC Championship match for the tenth straight season and advanced to the programs 24th overall NCAA Playoffs appearance.

Coach Harrison on this year's recruiting class: "With the graduation of over 25 players since my arrival back on campus, it was imperative we recruited a bit of a larger class to help fill some important needs. It is a great problem to have so many players staying and playing all four years, but it becomes vital each recruiting class comes in ready to live up to our tradition of excellence. This class is the result of the hard work of Chelsea Frye, Spencer Valdespino and countless players being great hosts. We appreciate each of you showing what it really means to be a part of the Trinity family."

Kristen Coniglione

Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because of the outstanding academics and top notch soccer team.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited to continue to play the game I've loved my whole life with great players at a top rated school.

Coach Harrison: "Kristen is a player who has played at a high level with D'feeters. We were happy to get her on campus, and once she got here, we could tell she was excited to hear what Trinity had to offer. We will look to Kristen to stretch teams with her speed and ability to provide for others or finish on her own. We are excited to have Kristen on campus."

Yasmin Subawalla

Outside Midfielder
Singapore American School/ FC Warriors

Intended Major: Political Science
Why I Chose Trinity: I fell in love with Trinity from the moment I stepped on campus. The warm, welcoming atmosphere was like nothing I have ever seen at a college before. I wanted to go to a school that would let me play soccer at a highly competitive level, but where I could also explore a wide range of academic opportunities.Trinity is the perfect place for me to do that.
What I am most excited about: I have lived overseas for the last eight years, so I am extremely excited to come back home and play at a higher level. I'm also looking forward to meeting my new teammates and getting to know them as players and people.

Coach Harrison: "Singapore is a first for us, but make no mistake we have spent our time recruiting Yasmin. From the first introduction, we could tell that Yasmin was a little different, and when she visited, we figured it out. As an international student, Yasmin is very mature. We felt like we were talking to a senior in college not high school. Yasmin will have to adjust to the speed and physicality of the US game, but we are certain she will pick it up quickly. We are excited to see her grow by training in our competitive environment. We are beyond excited to have Yasmin on the team, I'm sure she will bring life experiences that will help her teammates learn and grow as well."

High School Honors:
3 Year Varsity Letterman

Rachel Hilliard

Ronald Reagan HS/ Classics Elite
San Antonio, Texas

Intended Major: Business
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because of the impressive academics, athletics, and the beautiful campus.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited for the new experiences, people, and the opportunity to grow as an individual.

Coach Harrison: "Rachel is another student we have had at camps and games for years. We took the approach of playing it cool, which you sometimes do with local kids. In all honesty, we were hoping Rachel would join us from the very beginning. It is a huge benefit to the team and Rachel that she is so closely connected to the program. Rachel has seen firsthand what it takes to be successful and is willing to act on it. Rachel is a wide player that can play as a winger or an outside back, and she has the ability and willingness to track players as well as bomb forward. Having watched Rachel play for a few years, we are confident she can come in and adapt well to our Trinity standards."

High School Honors:
2018 TASCO All-Region 2nd Team
2017 TASCO All-District 2nd Team

Bailey Meyer

Outside back, Center back, Center mid
Carroll Senior HS/ Solar U19 ECNL
Southlake, Texas

Intended Major: Business Finance
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity in light of the great combination of prestigious academics and high quality, competitive athletics, which I am excited and honored to participate in. I am planning on studying finance and business and chose Trinity to help me prepare and build a strong foundation for my future.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited about establishing life long relationships with my teammates and coaches. I am also excited to compete and push myself and others to becoming a better player and person.

Coach Harrison: "Bailey is one of the first players we had commit for 2019. Bailey knew Trinity was the right place for her and there was no doubt that we wanted Bailey. She is a complete player who can make the hard things look simple. She is honestly a player you have to sit down and watch because she is always in the right place and very rarely makes mistakes. Bailey will be a solid defender who can shut down other teams almost as quick as she can start our attack. If you have watched our team play, we value defenders who are comfortable with the ball, and Bailey is that type of player. Given the fact that Bailey comes in ready to compete, she will make us a stronger team from the first day she steps on campus. I know it seems like a long time coming, but welcome to Trinity, Bailey!"

Bella Tablante

Katy HS/ Houston Dash U19 DA
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Intended Major: Biology
Why I Chose Trinity: Trinity is strong academically and athletically. I want to be a part of a team that not only is competitive but has a high bar for education.
What I am most excited about: I'm excited to meet my new teammates. Meeting different people from different places with a common goal… win a title!

Coach Harrison: "Bella is a player who may not be the tallest, but she has been playing for Dash DA in one of the top leagues in the country. I knew right away there had to be something about her that made her successful at that level. Bella is a technical winger that loves to face defenders up and make them look silly. Bella will be asked to do the same things at Trinity as we hope to keep a fast pace attacking style of play. I enjoy watching players who are everything I wasn't as a player, skillful and creative. I look forward to watching Bella train and play for the next four years."

A.K. Coker

Ursuline Academy of Dallas/ Dallas Texans FDL U18/U19
Plano, Texas

Intended Major: Biology
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose to attend Trinity because from the very first time I visited, I felt at home on the beautiful campus.Trinity is a unique place that provides great opportunities for its students. Additionally, the academics are extremely impressive and will prepare me for the future.
What I am most excited about: I like that I will have the chance to get a great education while playing at the collegiate level. I'm also excited about playing at Trinity because of the success and competitveness of the program.

Coach Harrison: "We wanted to get back into Dallas and try to bring in some left footed players. We crossed off both those boxes with A.K., and it is a huge positive she is also a great student who has some pure speed. From our first conversation, I had the feeling A.K. was looking for a school exactly like Trinity. Having just seen her on video, I really hoped she was good because I enjoyed our conversation so much. A.K. not only lived up to the hype as a player, but she is even nicer in person. After our college prep camp, we had a number of current players continue to ask me if A.K. committed, and if I said no not yet, they quickly asked me why not! Just know you already have teammates who are just as excited as the coaches to have you apart of the TU family."

Molly Sheridan

Kirkwood HS/ St. Louis Scott Gallagher
St. Louis, Missouri

Intended Major: Neuroscience/PreMed
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because from the moment I stepped on campus, I loved the atmosphere. The soccer team and school as a whole felt like a big family; a big family that would challenge the player, and ultimately the person I'd like to become.
What I am most excited about: I am excited for the rigorous academic environment and competitive soccer team.

Coach Harrison: "Sometimes you need to look outside your area to find a player who brings something different, but the great part about Molly was that she came to us! She is a true target forward coming from the well-known club of Scott Gallagher. The scary part about Molly is she has the strength to hold it up, but can also get in space to create for herself or teammates. Molly will be a handful for other teams, and we are excited that she has chosen to be a tiger! Molly has a sister who swims collegiately, so I'm sure she understands the sacrifices she will need to make to be successful."

What I am most excited about: I'm most excited about being a part of such a competitive program and making new friends

Coach Harrison: "Sarah is the type of student who has been at camp every year since I returned to Trinity. She is a great student that will represent the team and the University well in the classroom. Sarah has grown tremendously each year, and we are excited to see where she goes over the next four. Sarah will be asked to bring a little flare and run at defenders. Sarah is quick and crafty, and we really like that here at Trinity."

Madison Larrea

Westwood HS/ Austin Texans 00G National Premier League
Austin, Texas

Intended Major: Business
Why I Chose Trinity: Trinity is a great academic school and I loved the soccer program.
What I am most excited about: I'm excited to be challenged and to grow both academically and on the field. Also to get to know my teammates.

Coach Harrison: "Madison comes from my former high school of Westwood. We are certain when we get students from Westwood that they are prepared for the classroom and are well coached. Madison is the type forward that defenders hate. She is willing to chase down every ball and make teams work all 90 minutes. She knows she only needs one chance to win a game. Can't wait to see her make our own defenders better every day at practice and punish other teams during games."

High School Honors:
Varsity Team Captain
Academic All-District

Alana Wickham

Rockwall HS/ Solar
Rockwall, Texas

Intended Major: Neuroscience/Psychology
Why I Chose Trinity: Trinity truly checked all of the boxes that I was searching for in a university: amazing academics, a stellar soccer program, and a great location with a beautiful campus. After learning more about the extensive resources and opportunities that Trinity offers, as well as meeting many friendly future peers/teammates, I knew Trinity is the best place for me to continue my academic and athletic career.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited about forming many new friendships with some really awesome people and continuing the winning tradition that Trinity has! Go Tigers!

Coach Harrison: "Alana has a great lesson for future recruits to learn. If you invite a coach out to a game, impress them by scoring goals. In the first game I watched Alana, she scored a great goal in just a few minutes of watching. I started to do the math and figured out if she scores every few minutes over the next few years, she will finish with close to 300 goals. In all seriousness though, we have high expectations for Alana, as she has the ability to get lost between defensive lines. We know she can score goals, but we are also impressed with her ability to get others involved. Alana is a true playmaker. No pressure Alana, then again, we would have never recruited you if we didn't feel you are more than capable to live up to your potential."

Cassie Bowers

Episcopal School of Acadiana/ Cajun Soccer Club
Lafayette, Louisiana

Intended Major: Neuroscience
Why I Chose Trinity: Trinity provides both a rigorous biomedical science curriculum, as well as a nationally ranked soccer program. I knew Trinity was a special place when I went on my visit. Everyone I met, from the faculty to the students, seemed to love being there. I could instantly see myself thriving academically, athletically, and personally.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited about competing for National Championships and continuing to pursue my studies in science to advance on to medical school.

Coach Harrison: "Having spent most my life between Louisiana and Texas, I'm beyond excited to have Cassie join us. I finally get a break from the team telling, no one who asked, how great Texas is. Cassie, Spencer and I can talk about how awesome Louisiana will always be. I believe I first reached out to Cassie three years ago during a camp in Dallas. Cassie has a calming presence on the ball that comes from intense preparation, and she is a great kid from a great school and club. No doubt we are getting better as a program by having Cassie join!"

Nyah Shepherd

Outside Back
Deer Park HS/ Challenge 01 ECNL
Deer Park, Texas

Intended Major: Neuroscience
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity so that I could play soccer, a sport that I love, for a great team, and pursue my goal of becoming a neurosurgeon at the same time.
What I am most excited about: I am most excited about the new friendships I will make and all the things I will learn from my coaches and my professors that will lead me to becoming my best self.

Coach Harrison: "Nyah is another player who came to camp early in her career from Challenge soccer club. Nyah took some time to look at some bigger Division I schools, and she finally made the decision that she wanted to be pushed in the classroom as well as the soccer field. Nyah is a great example of a Challenge player and Trinity student. Nyah is a no nonsense hard working competitor who wants to win. Nyah can play on either side out wide, and she will demand other teams attacking players track her defensively or they will pay. Knowing Nyah's personality and self-determination, she will do what it takes to have a great career at Trinity. I think it's really up to us to make sure we don't place any limitations her Nyah. Pumped to have you in SA Nyah."

Ysabella Ferruzzi

McKinney Boyd HS/ FC Dallas
McKinney, Texas

Intended Major: Business
Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because of its high level academic programs as well as its talented Women's soccer team. The minute I walked on the campus, I instantly saw myself attending this University. In addition, the majority of my family has grown up and lived in the San Antonio area so it has always felt like a second home to me. My grandfather also played soccer and graduated from Trinity University so that makes me excited to attend and start my own journey at Trinity!
What I am most excited about: I'm most excited about attending Trinity to be involved in its Business and Sports Management programs. The opportunities to study abroad and get first hand experience through internships is amazing! I'm also very excited to play for Trinity to not only be part of a team that is so friendly but is also very successful and well known!

Coach Harrison: "Bella is another crafty center mid who's greatest strength is her knowledge of the game. It's almost like Bella has been around soccer her whole life. Bella is not afraid to mix it up and get into tackles when needed but avoids them by her ability to process the game quickly. She has the desire to keep the game moving and does so by being active with and without the ball. We will count on Bella to provide us with great decision making after reading what is needed in each game situation. Technical and smart, once again fits the Tiger soccer mold."

High School Honors:
Academic Excellence Award all 4 years of HS

Parker, Colorado

Intended Major: Business or Pre-law
Why I Chose Trinity: I love the academic benefits that Trinity provides. It's is a safe, small school that has the same amenities of a big school
What I am most excited about: I'm excited academically to start working towards my career. For soccer I'm so excited to be able to play for the school and meet new people.

Coach Harrison: "Emma is our most recent Colorado addition even though she has deep roots in Texas. I had the chance to first watch Emma playing for her ECNL team in Houston and knew she would be a great addition. Emma had the ability to win the ball and keep it moving quickly. We will ask Emma to control the tempo of the game from the midfield. We feel she has a good understanding of when we need to play on the front foot or when we need to slow it down. I know this has been somewhat a long process for us and Emma, but we are really excited to finally have her on campus come August."

Why I Chose Trinity: I chose Trinity for a high standard of both academics and soccer and for the ability to stay close to home.
What I am most excited about: I'm most excited about meeting new people and about growing as both a student and player.

Coach Harrison: "Jess is a top-notch student and player who has some experiences that will be very helpful to our team. Jess has represented Northern Ireland at UEFA U17 Championship qualifiers while playing full time with Challenge soccer club. There is no surprise why Jess would be an asset to Northern Ireland as well as Trinity. Jess is a true box to box midfielder who reads the game well. Jess is able to adjust to whatever role she needs to play to make a positive impact for her team. Jess can be the engine that keeps the machine moving, and we are beyond excited to have her as a Tiger, and I feel sorry for the teams that have to play against her."
