San Antonio - Trinity senior forward Chelsea Cole has been elected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Division III Women's Soccer Team for the second straight year.
Administered by College Sports Information Directors of America, the program recognizes the the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. Cole is now eligible for selection to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, to be announced December 4.
Cole is a neuroscience major who was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region First Team, in addition to the Academic All-District 8 Team. She has also qualified for Trinity's Dean's List and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.
This season, Cole was tabbed as the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive occasion. Sparking the Tigers to their 10th straight conference title, Cole was selected as the SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Offensive Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row as well.
Cole leads the Tigers with 22 goals and seven game-winners. Coupled with her team-tying lead of nine assists, Cole has produced 53 points during the campaign. She has accounted for 53 goals during her career with the Tigers, needing one more to tie Kelsey Falcone (2011-14) for third place on Trinity's all-time list.
Led by Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the 13th-ranked Tigers head to Abilene, Texas, this weekend for the opening of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. Trinity (16-1-1) takes on Occidental (CA) College in the first round on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The winner advances to Sunday's second round at 3:00 p.m. Hardin-Simmons (TX) University is the host of the four-team event.
