Georgetown, Texas - The 17th-ranked Trinity women's soccer team posted its eighth straight shutout victory with a 3-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference decision over Southwestern (TX) University Tuesday night.
Chelsea Cole lit up the board for the Tigers with a solo goal in the 22nd minute of action, which proved to be the only goal of the first half.
The Pirates had a chance to score in the 39th minute by a penalty kick, but the shot went wide. Trinity led Southwestern 8-1 in total first-half shots.
The Southwestern goalkeeper saved two Trinity shots early in the second half, but Madison Horner broke through with a goal in the 55th minute of action.
Trinity scored the final goal of the game as Alex Walsh fired the ball into the net in the 69th minute, with Cole picking up the assist.
The Tigers posted 14 shots in the second half and did not allow the Pirates to take a shot. By the game's completion, Trinity led 15-0 in shots on the mark.
Trinity upped its overall record to 9-1-1 and remained undefeated in the SCAC with an 8-0-0 mark. Southwestern dropped to 5-4-0 and 3-2-0 in conference play. The two teams will meet again October 23 on Trinity's field.
Chelsea Cole scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season and the 43rd of her career. Cole currently stands in eighth place in Trinity career goals. She also recorded her fourth assist of the campaign.
Trinity continues its SCAC schedule Sunday in Shreveport, Louisiana, for a 2:00 p.m. game with Centenary (LA) College.
