#11 Trinity Breezes Past Centenary in SCAC Tournament Semifinals

Shreveport, Louisiana – The 11th-ranked Tiger women's soccer team breezed to a 5-0 win over Centenary (LA) College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Saturday afternoon.



Trinity was in control from the start, out-shooting Centenary 15-0 in the first half of play, and connecting on three goals to take a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Tigers netted two goals after just over eight minutes of action and never looked back. Chelsea Cole scored the eventual game-winner just 3:27 into the match, assisted by Colleen Markey.

Julia Kelly had Trinity's second goal in the early going with Hannah Booher providing an assist on her corner kick.

Tierney Thomison finished off the first-half scoring with a goal in the 34th minute, and Katie Peth supplied the assist.

Meredith Licata and Abby Tisdale both added goals for the Tigers in the second half to close out the scoring.

Trinity held a 23-3 advantage in shots in the second half, but Meredith Licata and Abby Tisdale knocked in the team's only scores of the period.

Licata had the first after a cross in the 62nd minute, then Tisdale got her first score of the season with just under a minute to play.



Trinity improves to 17-1-0 this season with its 17th consecutive victory, which is also the program's 15th consecutive SCAC Tournament win.

That streak dates back to the 1991 season when the Tigers fell in the SCAC Championship game.

Of those 15 straight victories, 14 of them have come by way of shutout – including today's win.

Trinity has appeared in all nine SCAC Tournament finals and will be seeking the team's ninth straight conference title.

Chelsea Cole scored her team-leading 18th goal of the season, and she also leads the Tigers with five game-winners. The goal was also the 31st of her career.

Julia Kelly's goal was her 12th this season and the 21st of her career. She is third on the team this season in goals scored.

Hannah Booher and Colleen Markey each had assists in the game and Markey's 15th of the season has moved her to fifth in school history with 35 in her career.

Booher leads the Tigers with 16 assists this season and her 20 career helpers ties her for 21st in school history.

Meredith Licata netted her 25th career goal in today's game, which ties her for a spot in the top 25 in Trinity history.

Abby Tisdale scored her first goal of the season with just under a minute left in the game, and picked up her 14th career score.

Tierney Thomison's second goal this season is also the 14th of her career.



Trinity will face either Texas Lutheran University or Schreiner (TX) University in Sunday's SCAC Championship game at 1:00 p.m.
