#11 Tigers Celebrate Senior Night With Lopsided Win

San Antonio - The 11th-ranked Trinity women's soccer team honored its seniors with a 10-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Centenary (LA) College on Friday night.

 

MATCH SUMMARY

After scoring just twice in the opening period, the Tigers exploded for eight goals in the second half of play, and out-shot Centenary 23-0 in the final 45 minutes.

Trinity started the scoring just 3:07 into the game, as Chelsea Cole headed in the eventual game-winner on a corner from Hannah Booher.

The Tigers peppered Centenary with 23 shots in the first half, but it wasn't until the 32nd minute when the home team got on the board again. Julia Camp beat the defense to the end line, then sent a pass back to the middle to find Halleanne Dure for the goal.

The second half began with three Trinity goals in the first 15 minutes of action, starting with a Julia Kelly free kick from just outside the box at 51:31.  

Julia Camp assisted on each of the next two goals, breaking down the left side of Centenary's defense on both occasions. Cole was the recipient of the first of those passes in the 56th minute, while Colleen Markey scored her first of two consecutive goals in the 60th minute.

Markey's second came with just under 20 minutes to play, as Hannah Booher provided her second assist of the night. Booher picked up another assist less than two minutes later, as Kelly headed in her second goal of the night to make it a 7-0 Tiger lead.

Dure was involved in each of the next two goals, scoring in the 74th minute on another assist from Camp, then helping Markey for a score just 19 seconds later.

Tierney Thomison finished off a productive night for Trinity with just 65 seconds to play, benefitting from assists from Abby Blackwood and Hannah Bishop.

 

NOTABLES

Trinity won its 14th consecutive game with its sixth straight shutout, improving the team's record to 14-1-0 overall and 10-0-0 in SCAC play.

Markey scored her first career hat trick in the win, which moved her into the top 25 in school history for career goals.

Julia Camp's four assists are tied for the second-most in Trinity history for a single game, marking the highest total for a player since the 2014 season. She is also now 13th in Tiger history with 26 career assists.

Hannah Booher's three assists in tonight's game mark the second time this season that she has had three in a game. She is just the fifth player in Trinity history to have three or more assists in a game at least twice in a season.

Chelsea Cole's two-goal performance brought her total to a team-leading 16 this season, along with the fourth game-winner. Cole is tied for 19th place in Trinity's record books with 29 career goals.

Halleanne Dure also improved her total to 15 goals after adding two more in tonight's game, making this season the first since 2014 that two Tiger players have scored 15 or more goals.

 

UP NEXT

The Tigers conclude their regular-season home schedule Sunday, by taking on Austin (TX) College at noon in a SCAC matchup. The game will also mark the final regular-season home appearance for nine Tiger seniors.
