San Antonio – Trinity's 12th-ranked women's soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout victory over Schreiner (TX) University on Wednesday night.
Though the Tigers held a 12-0 advantage in shots during the first half of play, Trinity was able to find just one scoring play to take a 1-0 lead at the half.
Trinity had a flurry of shots on goal starting in the 10th minute, which was finished off with a goal by Colleen Markey in the 18th minute. Meredith Licata's initial shot was saved, but the ball was loose in the 18-yard box when Markey drove it into the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.
The Tigers struck quickly in the second half, as Markey skipped a pass across to Halleanne Dure in the 52nd minute, and Dure converted to make it a 2-0 game.
When Trinity scored again in the 65th minute, it was Markey getting an assist from Chelsea Cole for her second goal of the night.
Julia Camp capped off the scoring for the night with her solo goal in the 75th minute, curling a shot past the Schreiner keeper to make it a 4-0 Tiger lead.
Trinity improved its record to 10-1-0 and 6-0-0 in the SCAC this season, winning for the 10th consecutive game. Schreiner dropped its first SCAC match of the season, falling to 5-5-1 and 4-1-1 in conference play.
Julia Camp notched her 100th career point with her goal tonight, becoming the 10th player in school history to reach the milestone.
It was also Camp's 40th career goal, and she joins a list of just eight players in Tiger women's soccer history to score 40 or more.
Colleen Markey scored her third career multi-goal game, improving her career total to 23 goals scored with the Tigers.
Markey also picked up her 29th career assist, which moves her into a tie for eighth all-time at Trinity.
Kalli Douma recorded two saves on the only shots of the night for Schreiner, preserving her third solo shutout of the season and the eight overall shutout for the Tigers.
Trinity will resume SCAC play by heading up to face the University of Dallas (TX) on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
