#6 Women's Soccer Settles for 1-1 Draw Against UT-Tyler

San Antonio - The sixth-ranked Trinity women’s soccer team and the University of Texas-Tyler battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Friday night.

Trinity stands at 2-0-1 on the season, while UT-Tyler is 3-0-1. The Tigers beat the Patriots 3-0 last year in an NCAA Division III first-round game played on Trinity’s field. Tonight's draw was the first in between the two teams since 2008, snapping a seven-game Trinity win streak in the series.

Julia Camp put the Tigers on the board in the 16th minute, on an assist from Hannah Hommel.  Nikki Gordon tied up the contest in the second half with a rebound goal in the 58th minute of play. The two teams were close on shots on goal, with UT-Tyler leading 6-5 in the category. Trinity goalkeeper Janie Thompson guarded the net for the full 110 minutes, and posted five saves.

The Tigers begin defense of their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title by hosting Schreiner University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15.
