Sewanee, Tennessee - Abby Loar registered her second game-winner of the weekend to lead the defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Trinity Tigers in a 3-0 win over Sewanee: The University of the South Tigers Sunday afternoon.
The fifth-ranked Trinity Tigers, who produced their ninth
shutout of the season, remained undefeated at 11-0-0, and 2-0-0 in
Loar dribbled around the Sewanee defense and scored one minute, 25 seconds into the game. It marked her ninth goal of the campaign, and fourth game-winner. On putting the Tigers up 2-0.
The final scoring play of the game came in the 84th minute, as Stephanie Segovia put the ball past the defender at the top of the box. Segovia leads the Tiger team with 12 goals.
Trinity's offense had 11 shots, and limited Sewanee to two. As to on-goal shots, the Tigers picked up seven, and Sewanee had just one.
The Tigers will host two SCAC games during Trinity's Alumni Weekend. First up will be Rhodes next Friday at 8 p.m., followed by a noon Sunday game with Millsaps.
Former Trinity All-American Tanya Zwick Rinebarger, who will be inducted next Saturday into the Trinity University Athletic Hall of Fame, is scheduled to be honored at halftime during Friday's match-up with Rhodes.
