Women's Golf Second After First Round of SCAC Championships

Blanco, Texas – The Trinity women's golf team is second after the opening round of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Monday.



The Tigers shot a combined score of 337 on Monday, led by three golfers in the top 10 individually, and a fourth just one stroke out of the top 10 in 11th place.

First-year Sarah Buss led Trinity with a first-round score of 82, which puts her in a tie for fifth place. She is also tied for the tournament lead in three birdies.

Delaney Kelley is just two strokes behind her teammate in a tie for eighth place, and she is also one of three SCAC players to record three birdies in the opening round.

Raquel Hill stands 10th after shooting an 85 to start her first conference tournament, while Emilee Strausburg carded an 86 and is in 11th place.

All-American swimmer Mabel Fowler joined the Tiger women's golf team after her trip to the NCAA Championships earlier this semester, and she is in 18th place after the opening round of action.



The Tigers will finish off the tournament tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
