Women's Golf Fourth After First Round of West Region Invite

Georgetown, Texas - The 43rd-ranked Trinity women's golf team stands in fourth place after Monday's opening round of the D3 West Region Invitational.



The Tigers shot a first-round 327 at the par-72 Berry Creek Country Club course.

Trinity is just two strokes behind third-place Southwestern (TX) University and first-round leader #39 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor finished with a team score of 315.

Three Trinity golfers are in the top-15 standings, led by Sarah Buss who is tied for sixth place. Buss carded an 8-over-par 80 and is six strokes behind the leader from Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Buss posted two birdies in her round and is tied for second place in the statistical standings. The Tiger team had five birdies and is in a tie for second.

Emilee Strausburg is tied for ninth place, finishing just one stroke in back of her teammate, and she made 10 pars in the opening round to tie for third in the category.

Delaney Kelley is tied for 13th place in the tournament with an 82, while Raquel Hill is in a tie for 18th place.

Tiger All-American swimmer Mabel Fowler made her spring season debut with the team on Monday, and she stands at #32 after the opening round of play. 



The tournament concludes Tuesday with a morning shotgun start.
