Women's Golf Third After Opening Day at Crusader Collegiate

Killeen, Texas - The Trinity women's golf team is in third place after Monday's opening round of the Crusader Collegiate Invitational.



The Tigers shot a first-round 327 at the par-72 Stonetree Golf Club, and is 12 strokes behind the leader, Southwestern (TX) University.  There are a total of eight teams competing in the two-day event, which is hosted by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX).

Taylor Moser carded a 7-over-par 79 and stands alone in fifth place, but she is an a tie for first among all players with three birdies in the opening round. Moser is just five strokes behind the first-round leader.

Emilee Strausburg is in a tie for sixth place at 8-over, and is just one stroke in back of Moser. Strausburg shot 1-under on par-5s today, which is tied for the second-lowest score in the tournament so far. She is also tied for fourth in par-3 scoring.

Shelby DeVore is tied for 12th place at 10-over, and is also tied for sixth in par-4 scoring.

Brighton Chen, competing as an individual, is in a tie for the #22 slot with teammate Delaney Kelley. Elizabeth McGillivray holds the 33rd position.



The tournament concludes Tuesday.
