Cameron Hill will be in his eighth season at the helm of Trinity women’s basketball when the 2019-20 campaign gets under way.

A former Tiger men’s basketball standout, Coach Hill was appointed to the position prior to the 2012-13 campaign. He has amassed an overall record of 160-37 (.812) and stands at 87-14 (.861) in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). All of Coach Hill’s teams have won at least 20 games during his time as head coach.

The Tigers have captured the SCAC Championship in four of his past seven seasons as head coach. Trinity’s won its third consecutive SCAC title after the 2017-18 campaign, marking the first “three-peat” since DePauw (IN) University accomplished the feat from 2006-2008.

The Tigers have also earned a slot in the NCAA Division III Playoffs four times under Coach Hill’s leadership, including a run of three straight years from 2015-16 through 2017-18. The 2016-17 team advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 and finished with a 28-2 record, tying a school mark for single-season victories. 

Coach Hill was elected the 2016-17 D3hoops.com South Region Coach of the Year and was selected as SCAC Coach of the Year for the second time. He also was tabbed as the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year.

Four of Coach Hill’s players have earned All-America honors, the latest being Micah Weaver in 2018. Coach Hill’s teams have produced four SCAC Players of the Year, three Newcomers of the Year (including Hailey Coleman in 2019) and a Defensive Player of the Year. Eighteen Tiger players have earned All-SCAC honors during Coach Hill’s tenure, including five following the 2018-19 season. 

There have been five All-South Region honorees over the last seven seasons (including Abby Holland in 2019), one South Region Player of the Year, and one South Region Rookie of the Year.

Before joining the Trinity staff, Coach Hill led Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Texas, to the 2012 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Girls Basketball Class 5A Championship. He also coached the junior varsity and freshman teams at Ursuline.

Coach Hill began his career as an assistant men’s coach at Fordham (NY) University from 2000-2003. He was the director of player development for the University of Kentucky from 2003-2006. The Wildcats captured the Southeastern Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Elite Eight. Coach Hill was also an assistant coach for the former National Basketball Association Seattle SuperSonics Summer League and was the head coach of the United States Basketball Academy.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication from Trinity in 1999. Coach Hill played for the Tigers from 1996-1999 and received All-SCAC accolades in two of his three seasons with the team. Coach Hill played a major role in the Tigers’ 1998 SCAC Championship, as Trinity made its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Coach Hill gained professional playing experience for two years in Europe, following graduation from Trinity. He was a member of the Ulm, Germany, team in the Euro League Division 2; and for Treviso, Italy, in the Nike Summer Pro League.

Coach Hill and his wife, Colleen, are the parents of two sons, Cole and Chase. Colleen teaches faculty wellness, yoga, and aerobic dance at Trinity.
