San Antonio - Trinity's Abby Holland has been tabbed as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
In the course of last week's three SCAC victories, the Tiger junior became Trinity women's basketball's 18th player to reach 1,000 career points. The milestone occurred early in the matchup with Centenary (LA) College, when she scored 21 points on 9-15 shooting. Holland also pulled in a team-leading eight rebounds, along with sending out three assists, and produced six steals for the second straight game.
Holland averaged 22.3 points over the week's games, including a career-high 26 against Austin (TX) College. She also grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the campaign. In the opener with Schreiner (TX) University, Holland led the contest with 20 points, firing in 81.8% of her shots from the field.
Her totals for the week were 67 points, 26-40 shooting from the field, 3-3 from three-point range, 12-15 at the line, 25 rebounds, 15 steals, and seven assists.
This season, Holland averages 16.0 points per game and 5.9 rebounds. She is shooting 48.6% from the field, 41.7% beyond the arc, and 76.2% at the free throw line. Holland has also chalked up 61 steals and 38 assists.
The Tigers are on a three-game win streak and stand at 18-4 on the season. Trinity is atop the SCAC standings with an 11-2 record. Up next is a Saturday conference home game at 5:30 p.m. with Southwestern (TX) University.
