San Antonio - Trinity junior forward Abby Holland has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Holland and her Tiger teammates went 3-0 last week, starting with a home-and-season opening victory over Concordia (TX) University. Trinity then traveled to Tacoma, Washington, and claimed decisions over Pacific Lutheran (WA) University and the University of Puget Sound (WA).
Over the three games, Holland scored 57 points (19.0 points per game) and pulled in 16 boards (5.3 per game). Holland shot 47.5% from the field and hit 86.4% from the line.
Holland scored a career-best 22 points each against both Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound. The latter marked her sixth career 20-point matchup. Holland scored 13 points against Concordia, made seven rebounds, and went 7-7 at the charity stripe.
In the tightly played Puget Sound game, Holland converted a three-point play after being fouled with 2:09 on the clock, as the Tigers went up 54-50. She then dropped in another layup as the lead was extended to six points. Trinity went on to win 57-55.
Trinity (3-0) travels to Abilene, Texas, for a 6:00 p.m. Tuesday game at Hardin-Simmons (TX) University. The Tigers return home Friday to host Sul Ross State (TX) University at 6:00 p.m.
