San Antonio - Trinity's Micah Weaver was elected as the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The senior guard was selected for the All-Tournament Team last weekend at the season-opening Bruin Classic at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Seventh-ranked Trinity began the event with a 62-46 victory over Willamette (OR) University, but they came up short 65-61 to #22 George Fox the following day.
Weaver scored 43 points in the two games, on 18-36 shooting. She also produced 11 steals, eight rebounds, and six assists. Against George Fox, Weaver scored 27 points, hitting 11-23 of her shots from the field and 3-7 beyond the arc. She also posted seven steals, the most by a Tiger player since the 2015-16 season, along with grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
The Tigers open their home campaign next weekend with the Trinity Thanksgiving Classic. First up is Hardin-Simmons (TX) University at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, followed by a 2:00 p.m. Sunday matchup with the University of Texas-Tyler.
