San Antonio - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) honored seven individuals and the Tiger women's team with NCAA Division III Track & Field All-Academic kudos for the 2018 season.
In order to receive recognition as an All-Academic Team, a squad must have maintained at least a 3.10 grade-point average. Individuals selected must hold a GPA of 3.30 or better, have competed at the NCAA Championships, or attained a high national or regional ranking.
Love made the men's All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year. He earned All-America honors at this year's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with an eighth-place finish in the discus throw, and made the USTFCCCA All-South/Southeast Region Team in his signature event. Love was also a finalist for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Man of the Year award and was tabbed the SCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year. He was selected for the Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District 8 Men's Track/Cross Country Team for the second straight occasion.
Hall also is a three-time All-Academic Team recipient. He blazed his way to a second-place finish in the NCAA 110-meter hurdles event to gain All-America status. Hall received All-South/Southeast Region kudos in the Outdoor 110-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump, as well as the Indoor 60-meter hurdles. He was selected as the SCAC Men's Co-Track Athlete of the Year.
Walker was a key member of the men's 4x100-meter relay team which finished in 16th place at the NCAA Championships. He joined his teammates on the All-South/Southeast Region Team in the relay event.
Sullivan is now a three-time honoree of the All-Academic Team. She was elected the SCAC Woman of the Year and the SCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Sullivan placed seventh in the NCAA triple jump for All-America recognition and also competed in the long jump. She was elected the USTFCCCA 2018 South/Southeast Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Sullivan made the All-South/Southeast Region Team in the Oudoor triple jump, long jump, and 4x100-meter relay, as well as the Indoor triple jump.
McCullough qualified for the Track & Field All-Academic Team for the second year in a row and is a three-time member of the Cross Country All-Academic Team. She finished ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, missing out on All-America status by just five seconds. The versatile McCullough placed 38th at last fall's NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships, becoming Trinity's third All-American in the cross country event. She was elected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Track/Cross Country Team and gained All-South/Southeast Region honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000 meters races.
Schneebeck made the All-Academic Team for the second consecutive time and was an All-South/Southeast Region recipient in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. Lemmons was an All-Region performer in the 4x100-meter relay.
The Tiger track & field team is led by Head Coach Marcus Whitehead, who completed his sixth season at the helm. Coach Whitehead guided a school-record nine student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Trinity's women captured their fourth consecutive SCAC Championship, and Coach Whitehead and his assistant coaches were voted the conference Women's Staff of the Year. The Tiger men finished as runners-up at the conference meet.
