Naperville, Illinois - Three Trinity student-athletes competed Thursday and Friday at the Dr. Keeler Track & Field Invitational at North Central College.
Laura Taylor opened Thursday with a personal-best time of 17:44.46 in the women's 5,000 meters, finishing 10th in a field of 50 runners. She is now ranked sixth in the Tiger record books in the event, and is Trinity's fastest-ever first-year student-athlete in the 5k.
On Friday, Taylor came in at #19 in the 1,500 meters, a little more than a second from her personal record.
Molly McCullough set a personal record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:52.60. She finished seventh of 35 competitors, and solidified her spot in the NCAA Division III Championships.
Michael Erickson placed 34th in the men's 1,500 meters. Erickson broke the four-minute mark for the third time this season.
Some members of the men's and women's teams will compete at another last-chance meet at North Central next weekend, and will also attempt to improve their standing to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The national meet will be held May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio
