San Antonio - The Trinity women lead the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships after Friday's opening day, while the Tiger men are in second place.
The Tiger women scored 69 points after day one, and lead Texas Lutheran University by 12 points. Texas Lutheran's men team is the first-day leader with 76 points, with the Tigers a close second with 65. Both Trinity teams are the defending champions.
Coleman's triple jump win was just 0.02 meters ahead of second-place teammate Britney Sullivan, who competed in the event at Indoor Nationals earlier this year.
Led by Loseff, the Tiger women took the top three places in the pole vault, as Androniki Deftarious and Sophia Scearce earned All-SCAC honors by finishing second and third.
Haley McFadden placed second in the 10,000 meter run to start the day, earning All-SCAC honors as well.
The Tiger men went 1-2-3-4 in the 10,000 meters. Austin Brown won the title, with Brian Wongchotigul placing second by just 0.10 seconds, and Andy Cottrell finished third. Michael Erickson just missed All-SCAC honors with a fourth-place finish.
Three other Trinity men earned All-SCAC honors on the opening day. Second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase went to Jacob Hammond, and Benjamin Matthews finished third. Miro Ronac Giannone was a second-place finisher in the javelin.
Saturday is the final day of competition, starting at 8:30 event with track events. The field events get under way at 9:00 a.m. The awards ceremony is slated for a 2:30 p.m. starting time.
