Tiger Track & Field Teams Make Their Marks at UIW Invite

San Antonio - Trinity's track & field athletes turned in strong performances Friday and Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinal Invitational.



Austin Brown won the men's 5,000 meters, Matt Love took the title of the discus throw, and Trent Walker finished first in the 110-meter hurdles.

Brown beat his nearest competitor by over 20 seconds, while Love out-threw the runner-up by nearly 4.5 meters. Walker set a PR in the 400-meter hurdles, at 58.26 seconds for fourth place.

Raphael Martin finished fourth in the 200 meters, with a personal-best time of 22.11 seconds. Michael Erickson was fifth in the 800 meters, and Miro Ronac Giannone was runner-up in the javelin throw.

Elizabeth Peters ran a PR for fourth place in the 200 meters, at 25.65 seconds. Andy Garza placed second in the women's 400-meter hurdles, and Melissa Whitman placed fifth in the 5,000 meters.

Molly McCullough set a PR in the 1,500 meters, finishing fifth at 4:48.09. Laura Taylor also had a personal-best time of 4:54.20.

Makenna Bentley was runner-up in the high jump, with a PR of 1.60 meters. Mia Loseff was second in the pole vault, with a PR of 3.20 meters. She ran the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.84 seconds, for fifth place.

Britney Sullivan and Ayriel Coleman finished second and third in the triple jump.



The Tigers will compete in two events next week. Some members will head to Abilene, Texas, Thursday for the McMurry Invitational. Others will compete in Azusa, California, on Friday at the Azusa Pacific Invitational.
