Greensboro, North Carolina - Trinity sophomore Beau Tipton is now an Honorable Mention All-American in the men's 200-yard butterfly.
Tipton placed 10th Friday with time of 1:48.74 in the consolation finals at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
He swam the morning preliminaries and tied for eighth place. A swim-off was required and Tipton missed eighth place and All-America recognition by a mere 1.04 seconds.
Tipton's time of 1:48.49 in the preliminary event is a new Trinity and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Open record for the 200 butterfly.
Trinity's men are in a tie for 20th place in the team standings following Friday's action.
First-year women's diver Maren Merwarth completed her competition with a 24th-place finish on the 1-meter board, chalking up a score of 352.15. Merwarth placed 28th on the high board earlier in the week.
Trinity men's divers Daniel Valmassei and Anthony Liva, along with women's swimmer Mabel Fowler will close out their part at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday. Valmassei and Liva will compete on the 3-meter board, while Fowler will swim the 200-yard backstroke.
