Trinity’s Valmassei Earns Men’s Diving All-America Honors

Greensboro, North Carolina - Trinity sophomore Daniel Valmassei earned All-America honors with a fourth-place finish Thursday on the men's 1-meter board at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.



Valmassei posted a score 497.70 and was just 3.45 points from a third-place finish at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, as he became Trinity's highest-finishing men's diver in the 1-meter event. Valmassei earlier turned in a fourth-place performance in Thursday's preliminary round with a score of 477.20.

Sophomore Anthony Liva finished in 21st place on the low board at 380.65, and he and Valmassei will wrap up the meet Saturday on the high board.

Sophomore Beau Tipton placed 25th in the men's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.97.

The Tiger men are in 22nd place in the team standings after the second day of competition.

Mabel Fowler finished in 33rd place in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:53.57 and will compete next in the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday.



Beau Tipton and first-year Maren Merwarth finish their events Friday with Tipton swimming the 200-yard butterfly and Merwarth competing in the women's 1-meter diving. Preliminaries begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT and the finals are set for 6:00 p.m.
